Job Title: Equipment & Logistics Manager

Schedule: Full-time, 4-day work week

SPECIFIC DUTIES
Equipment Maintenance & Management: Keep equipment safe, functional, and running smoothly so production never stalls
- Ensure all tools and equipment are maintained in clean, safe, working order.
- Perform regular inspections to identify equipment malfunctions, and ensure timely repairs and replacements
- Chnage over equipment between product runs (e.g., different flavors, container sizes, or packaging formats)
- Establish clear protocols for how equipment is used, assembled, cleaned, and stored, and train team members to follow these procedures
Operational Logistics: Coordinate the flow of materials, ingredients, and schedules so production runs without interruption

Operate forklifts to stage and store pallets of ingredients, raw materials and finished products, ensuring preparedness for each production day

Manage the kelp thawing schedule — monitoring thaw times and adjusting as needed — to keep production on schedule

Track ingredient inventory levels and usage, flagging shortages before they impact production runs

Retrieve packaging materials and finished goods to keep the fulfillment operation fully stocked

Drive a 29 foot box truck (non-CDL) for pickups and deliveries
Food Safety Equipment Control Management: Keep equipment and processes compliant with food safety standards and Good Manufacturing Practices

Create, review and update equipment control plans at least annually, including Equipment Training Documentation

Ensure process controls are followed and documented during production, monitoring, and controlling processes as outlined in Barnacle’s HACCP plans
Production & Fulfillment: Produce and fulfill products will a high degree of quality, accuracy and efficiency

Work efficiently with a keen attention to detail and follow established processes

Carefully weigh, record, and assemble products following detailed procedures

Collaborate with others to clean and sanitize the processing area, dishes, and equipment

Work on the production line – filling, inspecting and boxing jars

Inspect glass containers to identify food safety issues

Complete training to meet Alaska food handling requirements within 30 days of employment

Pack wholesale and online orders for shipping

The ideal candidate is:

Mechanically inclined and has equipment maintenance experience

Experienced and/or has a certification in forklift operation

A highly motivated, self-starter that can work in a fast-paced environment

A quick learner with the ability to pay close attention to detail

Familiar with food safety protocols and knows their way around a kitchen
Requirements:
- Maintain a strict level of personal and workplace hygiene
- Comply with food safety protocols for food processors
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and work on feet all day
